Presentation of the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences in Brasov

Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences in Brasov is the current name of the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy in Brasov, accredited since 2003 (GD no. 693 on 12 June 2003).  

Five bachelor study programs are provided by Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences – Psychology – FT, Psychology – PT, Pedagogy – FT, Pedagogy LD and Pre-school and Primary Pedagogy – FT, corresponding to the bachelor studies in Psychology and Education Sciences, respectively.

Following the bachelor studies, the Faculty gives the opportunity to enrol in master studies for two interdisciplinary fields (Psychology and Education Sciences) – Educational Counselling; Clinical Psychology and Psychological Intervention.

Mission. The institutional vision of Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences in Brasov is to connect the academic process to the development of the contemporary Romanian society, as well as to the evolution trends in the scientific sector and to the professional practices in the EU countries and worldwide.   The teaching mission is to provide the bachelor and master students with large competences in the field of Psychology and Pedagovy or enrolling in master and PhD studies.  The scientific mission promoted by our Faculty consists in the development of the fundamental and applied research in Psychology, Pedagogy and Pre-school and Primary Pedagogy, in advanced research in the field of Counselling and Clinical Psychology.

The values implemented within our Faculty are democracy, cooperation, competence, professionalism, fellowship, honesty, public responsibility, solidarity, creativity, efficient and empathetic communication, eloquence, transparence, sensitivity towards the needs and desires of the students, the European identity.

The objectives set forth for our mission are as such: harmonization between the educational offer and the training needs as they derive from the development of the today Romanian, the European and world societies; promotion of the European principles and values in all the components of the activity carried out by academia and students; establishing new educational partnerships with higher education institutions (national and international); a constante development of the relations with the local community (via joint projects and programs); focusing on the practical dimension of the professional training of the future specialists by innovating methods (workshops, summer/winter schools, internship, etc.)

Each specialization features at least a subject of applied informatics and a foreign language, official in the EU, which can be of use in this field of activity, as well as a subject on training in research methodology.

The practicum is carried in partnerships with other education suppliers and of psychological counselling and assistance and represents a minimum 10% of the total number of hours in the study program.

            In light of the above, the current and future generation of students and academia are and will be focused on maximizing and developing their own potential by a constant knowledge transfer between the values and content of education, science and culture at both national and international levels.
